Created through a collective territorial dynamic led by the Region, the Agence Régionale Énergie & Climat (AREC) positions itself as a key player. Born in 2023 under the impetus of the Centre-Val de Loire Regional Council, AREC federates local authorities, businesses, and associations. It aims to amplify existing actions and develop new synergies, complementing national and European policies. Its purpose is to scale up climate actions, better protect biodiversity, support energy transitions, and adapt territories to climate change. AREC offers concrete services, accompanying local projects such as thermal renovation of school buildings, installation of photovoltaic panels on communal roofs, or energy diagnostics of public infrastructures to reduce energy consumption. A major focus is the promotion and development of renewable energies (solar, wind, geothermal, hydrogen). AREC also integrates an inclusive vision, promoting the fight against energy poverty.
